UST Removal & Closure

UST Removal & Closure

Our client came to us to remove two USTs adjacent to a historic barn, and subsequent to the removal of the tanks environmental impact was identified in the excavation. The commercial property was under agreement for sale, pending the removal of the USTs and the cleanup of any identified environmental impact.

The proximity of the impacted soil to the barn added a layer of complexity to the resolution of the problem. A typical solution would likely involve tearing down the barn to facilitate the remediation effort, but in this case this approach would significantly reduce the value of the property. And time constraints imposed by the scheduled property settlement negated other approaches.

aes engaged a specialty contractor to support the historic barn during the excavation and removal of impacted soil, with no resultant damage to the structure. The project was completed on time and under budget, with the client receiving site closure and release of liability from the regulatory agency prior to the property settlement date.
